The Local Governing Body (LGB) of Unicorn Primary School is a committee of the main board of the Compass Academy Trust (www.compassacademytrust.co.uk). Compass Academy Trust came into existence as a multi-academy trust on 1 September 2015.

Nick Bridges
Chair
Nick has been a governor at Unicorn since 2016 when he was elected as a parent governor. He began a new four-year term as a community governor in 2019 which coincided with being elected by the Local Governing Body to become Chair of Governors. This is an annual appointment within the Local Governing Body and one that he has retained to date. He has a son who currently attends the school, and a daughter who finished Year 6 in 2021. He combines his role as a governor with working full time for the national charity Family Action as Deputy Director of People and with a voluntary role with Kings Church in Beckenham.
Gail Preston
Vice Chair
Gail is a Unicorn community governor since 2016. Gail has three boys who are or have been part of Unicorn Primary School. Gail works part time locally as a Physiotherapist, balancing being a mum and a governor with responsibility for Staff development and Well Being.

Errol Ince
Co-opted Governor
Errol has gained extensive senior management experience and is a Vice Principal in a large FE college. His responsibilities include quality assurance and working closely with curriculum departments to raise standards and the quality of education. His teaching specialisms are engineering and construction. Errol is a current Ofsted inspector and has also worked previously as a senior examiner for a number of awarding bodies.
Mumin Moin
Parent Governor
Mumin was elected in November 2019 as a Parent Governor, when elected he had four children at Unicorn ranging from reception to Year 5. Mumin has worked in the City of London for over 15 years developing software and leading projects and teams, his current focus for the Local Governing Body is on Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Sports. Mumin hopes his experience in the City and strong links to schools can provide balance and diversity to the Board.
Wasim Butt
Parent Governor
Wasim has worked in education for 18 years in mainstream, special and alternative provisions and is currently the Education (Regional) Director at a large multi academy trust. Wasim has a track record of success over five years as a head teacher and executive head teacher, developing teams to drive success in challenging circumstances. Wasim strongly believes in education as the engine to social mobility and is passionate about supporting the team at Unicorn Primary School to fulfil their mission in providing the highest quality education for all pupils.
